Many people believe the expression 'time heals all wounds'. Does it still qualify, however, for an escaped convict who buries skeletons in the closet?
Susan LeFevre, a California house wife, was recently identified as an escaped convict from a prison in Detroit, Michigan. Lefevre, 53, claimed that at the time of her arrest in 1974 she was unaware that she would recieve a 10 year sentence for a guilty plea on a charge of possession of heroine.
With the help of her grandfather she climbed over the fence of the prison and continued running for the next 32 years.
After being arrested and identfied in California, she plead guilty to her charge of escape. The case is expected to resolve in a sentence of probation.
It seems it is acceptable in the eyes of this justice system to escape a 10 year sentence in exchange for a slap on the wrist.

WOW, this is a very intersting story. It shows that people will do anything to escape jail, even if they have to run for 32 years! This lady was very bold and should plead insanity for doing such a crazy thing. What do you think the media thought about the idea. I have yet to hear about this one.
32 years? I would have forgot about somebody after 32 years! That must have been a paranoid life she had to live trying to avoid prison. That ludacrous, but very sad.
I don't understand if Michigan was actually looking for her this whole time, why would they just give her probation?? She broke out of prison, she had heroin on her when she was arrested. If this was someone who was arrested recently and broke out of I doubt that they would receive the same judgment. This is a crazy story, I wonder how someone figured out it was her? Who would randomly look at her fingerprints matching a drivers license and if it was that easy to find her why hasn't it happened before this?!
Cool article. I Think it is right that she be charged with probation; only because I am not for drugs being illegal in the way they are in this country. There are certain levels of severity for drugs. Heroin in a level 3 and coke a level 2. Heroin is found in the "Hood" more often and coke in the suburbs. This makes police stay in the "Hood" because they would have no point in arresting some one if the charges get dropped. Such a flawed system. The point of making drugs illegal is to stop people from doing them; which is to stop the bad things that happen from doing drugs. Bad things happen because drugs are illegal so it is a lose lose situation. Let people do what they want. Punish them if they do something wrong but not before.
She definitely should have gotten more than probation. They pretty much awarded her for escaping prison. This was a very good story though!
I've never heard anything like this. This article was extrememly interesting and I cannot believe that just because she is an older woman now, that her punishment will be a lot lighter! She broke out of prison, isnt probation letting her off a little easy?
That's a crazy story! Just another example of our crazy legal system!
